9 lives? Maybe 7 now.

"Max is so stupid he almost died. 11-14-14"
Last time I wrote a blog it was about my " haunted bathroom". What I didn't tell you guys was the after math. It was probably the weirdest scenario I've ever witnessed.
So here is the story. Max got freaked out by something (himself) and decided to run upstairs. I didn't think too much of it until I heard his meow. Not the come and love meow but the I feel threatened meow!! I quickly walked over to the staircase where I heard him and before I even put one foot on the stair Max fell from the top. I was in such shock that I stood there for a couple seconds trying to process what the hell just happened. I was trying to remember how many lives cats have. 7? 8? Maybe it was 6. I decided to google it, 8. Its 8!
Max was just laying there. Thankfully breathing but just laying there. Luckily at that time my mother was coming through the front door. I told her what happened to me and she told me her very interesting culture belief.
My mom told me that in her Hispanic culture cats are believed to only have 7 lives. At this time I was freaking out because Max falls off the staircase regularly. Maybe he is stupid or maybe he is just afraid and has no other choice. Who knows.
I was very interested to know why cats are said to have 9 lives but in other cultures believed to have 7? Or even 6? I was up for a couple hours trying to figure it out and I did.
After all my research I came to the conclusion that cats don't really have 9 lives. They are said that they do because they have the ability to jump and land without truly getting hurt or wounded. Although research states that cats don't have 9 lives a lot of cultures think otherwise. A lot of Spanish-speaking regions believe that cats really do have 7 lives (guess my mom had a point). While in Turkish and Arabic legends believe they have  only 6. I will stick to the fact that Max has 1 life but will always hope he has unlimited.
